My Roots

Born in Iowa and raised in the heart of Taiwan’s Science Park, I returned to the U.S. to complete my doctorate degree in healthcare and build my career in the Midwest. I’ve spent my life moving between two worlds—absorbing the values, perspectives, and traditions of both. With over 17 years of experience in healthcare, education, and leadership, I founded EastWest Navigator to help others thrive across cultural lines.

What I’ve Learned​

In my work, I’ve seen how small cultural misunderstandings can quietly derail communication and trust. I’ve also witnessed the opposite—how culturally fluent leadership can open doors, foster genuine collaboration, and help organizations achieve smooth, effective teamwork.

Why Healthcare Matters to Me​

In healthcare settings—especially when Mandarin-speaking families are involved—cultural gaps can affect more than just conversations. They can shape patient understanding, confidence, and engagement. I’ve seen how a moment of cultural awareness, a choice of words, or an empathetic gesture can transform a patient’s experience—leading to better care and, ultimately, better outcomes. This is why I’m passionate about helping clinics and care teams create culturally responsive communication that builds trust, clarity, and healing.
